Holy Trinity/St Paul's Anglican Church, Chatham participated in a community outreach project to help feed seniors who are experiencing food insecurity.
The church partnered with Free Help CK, a nonprofit organization that is run 100% by volunteers and funds their programs through donations and fundraising events. Throughout Lent our parishioners had the opportunity to donate towards the Adopt a Senior outreach through special envelope givings and loose change collections. For every $10.00 collected we were able to sponsor one senior with two hot, homemade meals in one week. Free Help CK prepares the meals and delivers them to the seniors on a Monday and Thursday at no cost to the recipients.
We presented a cheque to Free Help CK in the amount of $2,340.85 for their Adopt a Senior outreach. Our donation sponsored 234 seniors and provided a total of 468 meals.
