183rd Synod of the Diocese of Huron started on Sunday, May 28 with the opening service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, Ontario.
This year’s Synod theme is “Singing the Lord’s Song in a Strange Land” focusing on Diversity in Church. The guest of honour at Huron Synod is Bishop Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy (Bishop of Willesden, Diocese of London, UK), who delivered his sermon at the opening service. Archbishop Marinez Bassotto, Primate of the Anglican Episcopal Church of Brazil was also present at the service.
At the service, Rt. Rev. Todd Townshend, Bishop of Huron, appointed Mr. Mark Charlton and Dr. Olive Elm to the Order of Huron.
