Pathways
To be licensed as a Lay Reader in the diocese of Huron there a different pathways by which you can fulfil the training requirements.
The minimum requirements are that you have or complete training* in the following four subject areas:
- Old Testament (Introduction)
- New Testament (Introduction)
- Preaching (homiletics/proclamation)
- Liturgy (Officiating)
The mode by which you fulfil these training requirements will depend upon your own background, level of experience and by what courses are available.
Thankfully the diocese of Huron is blessed to be home to a number of theological learning centres which offer a variety of courses and we also have learning opportunities provided by other ministries within the diocese.
*Training can be completed either remotely or classroom based and comprise:
One: Course, Module, Credit, Book Study (or their equivalent)
These could be from institutions such as:
Huron College (London), Renison College (Waterloo), Canterbury College (Windsor) or from other recognised institutions from further afield.
Suggested learning opportunities:
Licentiate in Theology Program, Education for Ministry, Local/Deanery Courses or clergy supervised study.
