What are Catechumenal Ministries?

In the ancient church, a catechumen (pronounced "cat-a-cumin) was an adult who was being prepared to celebrate the sacraments of Christian initiation: baptism, chrismation, and Eucharist.

This process of preparation is called the catechumenate.

Catechumenal ministries are ministries of learning that are inspired by the ancient cat-echumenate.

Like the catechumenate, they are a process of learning integrated with the liturgical year.

Like the catechumenate, their goal is to equip us to live our baptismal vows faithfully.
