Eight nominees standing for bishop as of Oct. 18

The Electoral Procedures Committee reported as of press time that seven nominees have agreed to stand for election as coadjutor bishop of Huron.

The Synod of the Diocese of Huron will gather on Saturday, Feb. 13 (snow date Feb. 20), to elect the coadjutor bishop.

Five were nominated by Diocesan Council:

• Ven. Jane Humphreys

• Ven. Paul Millward

• Ven. Tanya Phibbs

• Ven. Sam Thomas

• Ven. Peter Townshend

In addition, two nominations have been received by five delegates of Synod each and have agreed to let their names stand:

• Rev. Canon Dr. Timothy Connor

• Rev. Canon Robert Towler

The following person has been nominated by the Provincial House of Bishops:

• The Right Reverend Linda Nicholls, Area Bishop of Trent-Durham & Bishop Suffragan of Toronto

More nominees may be coming forward through this process and the diocese will update these names on our website,

Biographical information about the candidates will be posted on the Diocese of Huron website in November and published in the Huron Church News December issue (mailed out Nov. 23).
