Bishop Bob Bennett has accepted the wish of the Reverend Dr. Gary Nicolosi to retire effective August 1, 2016 with his last Sunday in the parish being June 26, 2016. Gary was deaconed in June 24, 1983 in the Diocese of Quebec and priested there on June 24, 1984. He came on the strength of the Diocese of Huron on August 1, 2010 with his appointment as the Rector of St. James’, Westminster in London, the position from which he retires. Gary has served as a member of the Strategic Plan Implementation Group and Chair of the Post-Ordination Training Planning Group.
Bishop Bob Bennett has accepted the wish to retire of the Venerable Peter Townshend, effective July 31, 2016 with his last Sunday in the parish being June 19, 2016. Archdeacon Peter was deaconed on May 1, 1980 and priested on March 1, 1981. He has served the parishes of St. James’, Westminster; St. Thomas’, Walkerton, St. Matthew’s, Kingarf and St. Paul’s, Pinkerton; St. John the Evangelist, Leamington; Grace Church, Brantford and Holy Saviour, Waterloo, the position from which he will retire. Peter was named a Canon of the Cathedral in May 1994 and appointed Archdeacon of Brant/Norfolk and Oxford in November 2000, then later the Archdeacon of Waterloo in June 2004. He has served as Regional Dean of Brant/Norfolk and on the Committee for the Assistance to Theological Students, the Diocesan Council, the Diocesan Sub-Council, the Administration and Finance Committee, the Budget Sub-Committee, the Corporation of Huron University College, the Council of Advice, the Committee on Revision of Constitution and Canons, the Strategic Plan Implementation Group, the Mohawk Chapel Committee, the Board of Governors of St. Monica House and the Bishop’s Committee on Ministry. Archdeacon Peter will be honoured with the other retirees at the Synod banquet.
Bishop Bob Bennett has accepted the wish of Ms. Sjouk Lynch to retire effective June 30, 2016. Sjouk has held the position of Accounts Payable and Receivable Administrator since June 2012 and previously held the same position from September 2000 to August 2004. Sjouk will be honoured with the other retirees at the Synod banquet.
Bishop Bob Bennett has accepted the resignation of the Reverend Canon Donald Davidson as rector of St. George’s of Forest Hill, effective August 31, 2016 with his last Sunday in the parish being July 31, 2016. Canon Don has accepted the appointment as Dean of the Diocese of Ontario and Rector of the Cathedral Church of St. George.

Mrs. Dianne Palmer, mother of the Venerable Tanya Phibbs (Wade), died peacefully at home on March 21, 2016. Dianne served as a Salvation Army Corps Officer in Toronto and St. Thomas, worked as a Homemaker supervisor for the St. Thomas Red Cross and as the Branches Supervisor for the Elgin County Library system. Dianne co-authored the book Full-Time Families. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor and her Master of Library Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. She was a member and past-president of the Probus Club of Woodstock-Oxford. A Celebration of Dianne’s life took place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 9 Douro St. (at Waterloo), Stratford. The Rev. Robert Doerr, Officiant, and the Rev. Daniel Bowyer, Celebrant.
James Winton, father of Joan Perrin (Brad), Payroll and Benefits Administrator of the Diocese, died on March 23rd, 2016 in his 91st year. A gathering to honor Jim’s life was held on March 29th in Pembroke, Ontario.
The Reverend Charles (Buck)
Oliver McNeil Easson died on March 27, 2016 in his 79th year. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 52 years Gail Easson, and his children. Rev. Charles completed his BA in Theology and after ordination, served in Churchill Manitoba in the Diocese of Keewatin. Rev. Charles held a General Permit in the Diocese of Huron. A memorial Service was held on April 2, 2016 at St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church in Oakville. Rev. Canon Joe Asselin officiated.
Phyllis Ford, Mother of the Reverend Canon Don Ford (retired) (Margaret), died March 31st, 2016. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at the time of this publication but took place in Sarnia.
The Reverend Edward (Ed) Chapman (Dorothy) died on April 4th, 2016. Ed was ordained a deacon on May 19, 1964 in the Diocese of Ottawa and priested there on March 25, 1966. He also served in the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador and the Diocese of Nova Scotia and PEI before coming on the strength of the Diocese of Huron in 1974 as the rector of Hyde Park and Mount Brydges. He later became the rector of the parish of St. Alban’s, London from which he retired in 1989. The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 14th at St. Aidan’s, London.
