On June 11, 2017 the Diocese will gather for a historic celebration that you will not want to miss.
We will gather in support of St Paul’s Cathedral as they get close to completing their repairs.
St Paul’s Cathedral is 185 years old and sits at the cross section of the heart of downtown. It has given to the local community over that time by supporting newcomers to Canada, advancing the arts, feeding the hungry and offering warmth and shelter to London’s homeless. The Cathedral is a gem of our London community and the community is stepping forward to show celebrate the Good News that has been shared at Richmond and Queen for over 180 years.
Some of the finest choirs in London are coming together to create Music and Friends: An Evening in Celebration of St Paul’s. Even the Rev’d Matt ‘Elvis’ Martin is taking Elvis out of retirement.
So far, Rembrandt Homes, Harris Funeral Home, Edward Jones, London Brewing Co-op, Huron University College. AM 980 and St Aidan’s Church have teamed up as principal sponsors of this event. Collectively they have contributed $20,000 to get us started.
We could not be more excited about our host for the evening. Mr Walter Gretzky of St. Mark’s in Branford will be present to meet and greet people during a Cocktail meet-and-greet and time of Silent Auction from 6-7pm before the performances begin.
Nick Paparella of CTV will be our emcee. It is hoped that through ticket sales and our silent auction that we can double what we have raised so far. We expect to fill the cathedral that evening. And why would we fill the Cathedral? The choirs and musical talent include:
St Paul’s Cathedral Choir
Valleyview Male Chorus
Primus – Amabile Men’s Chorus
Karen Schuessler Singers
Canadian Celtic Choir
Pride Men’s Chorus London
London Fire Fighter’s Pipe Band
And of course, ELVIS!
Don’t miss your opportunity to be at this glorious night of celebration.
You can get tickets for your parish at the Diocese of Huron. Please contact Cathy Hodgins at 519-434-6893, ext. 221. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
We would also welcome donations for our Silent or Live Auction. Please contact Kevin George at [email protected] if you have items to donate.
St Paul’s is OUR Cathedral. Let’s all come together to celebrate that gift.
