Huron Church News wins an award from the Canadian Church Press

Huron Church News won a third place award for in-depth treatment of a news event from the Canadian Church Press (CCP) at its annual convention held in Quebec City on June 22 to recognize excellence in Canadian Christian publications in 2016.

Huron Church News was recognized with the award for its coverage of the coadjutor bishop election on February 13 2016, published in its April edition. The coverage includes texts by Sandra Coulson, Rev. Marty Levesque and Bishop Terry Dance. First place in this category was awarded to The Catholic Register, and second place to Anglican Journal for its coverage of the same-sex marriage resolution at 2016 General Synod.

Our Anglican team did really well at this year’s CCP convention. Anglican Journal won 13 awards. Also awarded are: The Saskatchewan Anglican; The New Brunswick Anglican; The Highway.

More than 80 Canadian church publications – newspapers and magazines – are CCP members. CCP is regarded as one of the most active and broadly based ecumenical organizations in Canada.
