On March 27 and 28, Port Stanley was transformed into Hollywood and Christ Anglican Church was chosen to be filmed for a scene in the new NBC TV series Taken.
For two days our quiet town was taken over by cameramen, crew and cast members. Lots of unusual activities and something to remember.
Our church was the site of a funeral service in the pilot episode. Lighting crews spent the entire morning preparing the interior for an afternoon shoot.
Not only was the parish excited to our church be in one of the scenes but a number of parishioners were chosen as some of the 100 extras used in the filming in Port Stanley.
Our volunteers from the community food bank and Christ Church with support of the production company also distributed food left over from the two catering companies to local charities supporting homeless people in the area.
The filming was an amazing community event and we as a parish are proud our “little church on the bend” got to have a starring role.
The series is to air this fall. The main characters are being played by Clive Standen (Vikings’ ”Rolo”) and Jennifer Beals (Flashdance and The L Word).
