A lesson in history at St. Andrew’s, LaSalle

By Faye Viscount

St. Andrews Anglican Church in LaSalle hosted the Anglican Church Women’s “Potluck Lunch” on May 6th.

Rev. Hilton Gomes opened with the lighting of an Easter candle in memory of past members.  Many wonderful dishes were enjoyed by over 40 women and Rev. Hilton.  A “Penny Sale” was held to raise funds for our charity outreach in the community.

The speaker, Nancy Allen, from the North Star Cultural Community Centre gave an informative talk to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada and the 125th anniversary of Windsor. One of the most interesting topics she talked about was the bi-national monument’s built in Detroit and Windsor commemorating the underground railway for Detroit’s 300th Anniversary.
